State/Prov.: NC Occupation: Critical Care/ED Clinical Nurse Educator Marital Status: Single If you had it to do all over again, what would you change and/or what wouldn't you change?: Being assertive and confident towards those who found me "odd," with respect to my appearance, sexual orientation and being a "teachers pet." I do not regret my high school experiences (i.e Swim Team, Proms, Art, Academics, etc.), that define who I am today. I wish I used Rogaine more before I went bald. I guess perming your hair and dying it makes men loose their hair. People who are bald is sexy. I do have much to say on what I have been up to in the past 20 years. Again, my life is the end result of relationships, whether it is your family, faith, high shcool classmates, friendhsips, colleagues, husband, wife and significant others. What have you been up to the past 20 years?: For those who remember me, Art was my utmost passion. During the 11th grade, I participated in the PA Govenor School of the Arts. This set the stage for me to pursue fashion design after graduating high school. And, I did pursue the dream but ended shortly after one semester at reputable school - Parsons School of Design, where the Bravo show "Project Runway" takes place. And, I still have the acceptance letter from the school, which Timothy Gunn signed himself. In 1989 I joined the USAF. I was an Behavioral Science Specialists at Malcom Grove Air Force Base in Washington D.C.. In 1992, I did attempt to purse the fine arts again, but through "peer pressure" I decided to pursue my second love - Nursing!. This decision was a good one in many ways and I am very thankful for it. In 1995, I obtained my Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree from Lycoming College. In 1997, through troubled personal chaos and for self prservation, I packed my bags and moved to North Carolina, now my permanent residence. This move set the stage for what my life would be like, personally and professionally. In 2004, I obtained my Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree in Nurisng Administration from Univeristy of North Carolina in Greensboro NC. Now it is 2007 plus, I have published, and advocating for patients/families that deserve the "best" quality and safe health care. My current position and passion to care for others in time of need has now inspired me to pursue my PhD in Nursing. Also, adovocating for "gay rights." Writing is exhausting. Yes, I have been very successful. At the same time, many of the you are and have done well in your professional lives...and is inspiring. I do know this though; I know my "roots." I am much thankful to my family, teachers, current and long term friendships, former significant others, and etc. for believing in me when very few had doubt. Well, what about my personal life. I am currently single after being in a three and half year relationship with a wonderful man who is also a nurse. I am not in a hurry to pursue another relationship. I do desire to share my life with someone who is accepting of me as an unique individual (i.e. dreams, passions). And, if I do meet that special person, I hope to adopt children. Like Forsest Gump said, "life is like a box of chocaltes, you never know what to expect next... or so they say." What do I like to do in my spare time?I am a humorous and sarcastic party animal. My favorite alcholic beverage is Grey Goose and Tonic with a slice of lime. Believe it or not, I like to dance with my shirt off in a pair of Diesel jeans. If teh opportunity arises again, I enjoy skiing too. Whoever is reading my disrotation, I am an extrovert with alot of personality. And, if I do not see you at the 20th class reunion or in passing, I wish everyone a loving, safe and enjoyable life that God can offer. |
